Rochester Hills Mayor Barnett Launches Podcast
Get to know the people that live, work and play “Right Down the Street”
Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has launched a podcast that celebrates the ideas, perspectives and the vocations of people in our community. The podcast, named “Right Down the Street,” focuses on getting to know our neighbors and familiarizing us with those we didn’t know or didn’t know much about -- people who literally live right down the street.
Available to download for free on virtually all platforms, including Spotify, Amazon, itunes and Google podcasts, new episodes will be available each month. Just search for “Right Down the Street” and enjoy.
“It’s people that make our community great,” said Barnett. “A podcast is a terrific way to have extended conversations with our neighbors and to hear their stories. My goal is to make it easier for us to get to know one another better.”
The first podcasts episodes have featured Rochester Hills residents Chris Brooks, Senior Pastor at Woodside Bible Church, Frank Beckmann, former host of “The Frank Beckmann Show” on WJR, Aly Lela, instructor of Islamic Studies at Oakland University, Gina Spehn and Sam Kell from the New Day Foundation for Families and Fiona Turett, a Rochester High School graduate and member of the latest class of NASA Flight Directors at the Mission Control Center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
“More than 50% of people age 12+ listen to podcasts and nearly three in four listeners tune in to learn new things. That’s exactly what we want to promote with “Right Down the Street,”” said Barnett. “It’s a great new way for us to learn more about the people around us and what’s happening in our community. I invite you to listen in!”
