Rochester Hills Ranked #1 in Procurement Statewide
Celebrates 17th consecutive year of Award Recognition
The City of Rochester Hills has been awarded the prestigious 25th Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) for 2020 from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI). The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit agencies that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence. This annual program recognizes procurement organizations that embrace Innovation, Professionalism, Productivity, Leadership and e-Procurement.
"This award represents the professionalism and diligence of our City purchasing staff ensuring the citizens of Rochester Hills and the employees of the City receive the highest level of professional service and commitment to excellence from our procurement team,” states Procurement Manager Lisa Cummins. “We are honored to receive this award and I am very proud of our team".
Rochester Hills was the only city in the State of Michigan to receive this award. Nationally, less than 200 organizations were recognized with this award. This includes counties, cities, higher education agencies, school districts, state agencies, and others across the country.
In addition to this award, Rochester Hills has been highlighted repeatedly as one of the best through the Buyer of the Year Award, Purchasing Manager of the Year Award, Agency of the Year Award, and two Michigan's Public Purchasing Officers Association (MPPOA) Marvin Klang awards. The Marvin Klang is the MPPOA’s capstone award and highest achievement in the purchasing profession.
Every year, the purchasing team oversees $70 million of goods and services. Rochester Hills is home to a fully centralized procurement division and with the City's fully integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, the procurement division reviews and approves every penny spent.
“These awards demonstrate our team’s dedication to providing world class, best practices in procurement,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “I am so incredibly proud of their national reputation for innovation and professionalism.”
