What private construction projects are going on in the city?
Visit our Status of Development Projects map to see who is building what and where.
Do I need a building permit?
Contact the Building Department at 248.656.4615 and request their Residential Construction Brochure.
How do I find what my actual lot dimensions / property lines are for my house?
To find your actual lot dimensions, please look at the property descriptions maps. (Please have your parcel identification number (PIN) ready to use; it is always listed on your tax bills.) This map will show you your lot dimensions only, not your house on your lot, for this you need a survey.
The determination of property boundaries is not a governmental function of the City of Rochester Hills. The city recommends that you refer to listings in the phone book under surveyors for this information.
How can I find information about a property I am looking at purchasing as far as permits, outstanding or past violations, etc.?
You can find information on your property by searching by address here.
Can I obtain the blueprints to my house?
Per the City's record retention schedule, the building department is required to keep copies of residential records for 10 years, which includes construction drawings.
If your permit and drawings are less than 10 years old, please fill out a request for information and send it to the Clerk's Office following the directions provided. If the information is in storage, there is a fee for the retrieval of the documents and costs for any copy work.
If the information is available electronically, we can email the documents directly to you.
