Program Purpose
The City of Rochester Hills has participated in Oakland County's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) urban county program since its inception in 1975. Oakland County receives CDBG funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and allocates funding to participating communities.

The national CDBG objectives are to:
  • Assist low- and moderate-income persons
  • Meet an urgent community need where no other funding is available
  • Prevent or eliminate slums and blight

Annual Hearing and Programs
The Rochester Hills City Council holds an annual public hearing in the fall to decide how to allocate the city's CDBG funding.

Currently, funds are used for the city's Minor Home Repair Program, the Yard Services Program for low-income seniors, and to support organizations that provide residents with battered and abused spouses services and emergency clothing services.
