Fly Fishing, Hiking and Wellness

This June, learn to fly fish, enjoy a nature hike with a physician from Ascension, or schedule your own outdoor program for your group with our naturalists. The City’s Parks & Natural Resources Department, through their Natural Resources Division, will be offering multiple opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to enjoy the start of their summer. Join our naturalists and staff from Orvis Fly Fishing Shop to learn the basics of fly fishing, including casting, equipment and outfit setup. If you’re more interested in hiking and wellness, join us for the first of our 3 scheduled Wellness and Nature Hikes with Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. Our naturalists have teamed up with professionals from Ascension to provide a hike that not only connects us with nature but also will help guide us through healthy life choices. June’s walk will focus on families where pediatricians will be there from Lakeview Pediatrics and will provide information on illness prevention and immunizations. Also, this month if you’re interested in learning more about our Green Spaces; join our Green Space Advisory Board for our Second Saturday Hike at Ruby Green Space.

Additionally, this June, our Natural Resources Division is hosting a 3-day Outdoor Adventure Camp, where kids ages 9 to 12 can join Lance and Lauren for an outdoor experience packed with adventure and exciting camp activities. Registration is required for these programs and space is limited. To register for any of these or our other upcoming opportunities visit our website or call the Parks & Natural Resources Department 248-656-4673.
