This May, the City of Rochester Hills will continue to offer programs to get residents and families more connected to the outdoors and our natural resources right here in our city. The City’s Parks & Natural Resources Department, through their Natural Resources Division, will be offering multiple opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to enjoy spring in our parks and green spaces. Join our naturalists, Lance and Lauren, for a campfire and night hike at Bloomer Park early in May. Enjoy some s’mores and see if you can’t catch a glimpse of an owl and other nocturnal wildlife. If you’re interested in learning more about our Green Spaces; join our staff and Green Space Advisory Board for our annual Green Space Discovery Hike. Also, later in May, join staff on a Nature Walk to learn all about the natural world as we hike though Avon nature Area.
Additionally, this May, our Natural Resources division has partnered with the City’s Museum at Van Hoosen Farm to offer a presentation from the St. Clair-Detroit River Sturgeon for Tomorrow group. Join us to see a live sturgeon and learn about Michigan’s largest and oldest fish. Registration is required for most of these programs and space is limited. To register for any of these or our other upcoming Outdoor Engagement Opportunities visit our website rochesterhills.org/outdoors or call the Parks & Natural Resources Department 248-656-4673.
