Campfires, Night Hikes and Wild Edibles in Rochester Hills

There is still time left to register for Rochester Hills Parks & Natural Resources August outdoor programs. The Rochester Hills Parks & Natural Resources Department, through their Outdoor Engagement unit, will be holding several programs in the next two weeks to get people outdoors, while offering opportunities to learn new skills along the way. Join our naturalists, Lance and Lauren, as they show you how to have a campfire cookout, search wild edibles, and more in our Parks. Registration is required and space is limited, so sign up soon.

Upcoming August programs include the following:

Campfire Cookout – August 17th @ 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Have you ever wanted to cook over an open fire but aren’t sure where to start? We will learn and enjoy various different cooking methods in this fun and tasty family program suitable for all ages at Bloomer Park.

Wild Edibles – August 18th @ 9:00 – 11:00 am
Ever wondered which berries are safe to eat? Come join us at Bloomer Park and be surprised over how many different things in nature are edible! We will also learn some very dangerous things to avoid in nature.

Night Hike and Campfire – August 23rd @ 8:00 – 9:30 pm
Gather the family and enjoy a guided night hike, owl calling and the sounds of summer followed by marshmallows roasting over a crackling campfire at Bloomer Park.

These Programs are a great way for people of all ages to get outdoors and they offer an opportunity to introduce some of our youth and families to the great recreational/natural resources we have available right here in our city.

These programs are coming up fast, so register now. To learn more on costs and/or to register for any of these or our many other Outdoor Engagement Opportunities throughout the fall visit our website or call the Parks & Natural Resources Department 248-656-4673.
