Dog Licenses

 DogLicense

Last day to purchase a 2008 dog license at City Hall for the non-delinquent fee is Friday, May 30, 2008.

Per Michigan State Law, all dogs 4 months or older are required to be licensed.

To obtain a license, a current rabies vaccination certificate is needed.

Where to Purchase License:

    •    Rochester Hills Treasury Department
(Make check payable to City of
           Rochester Hills)
    •    Some Local Veterinarians
    •    Oakland County Animal Control at 1700
Brown Road, Auburn Hills, 48326. You
may mail your information and check
to Animal Control to obtain a license.

When to Purchase License:

Dog licenses must be renewed annually.
Licenses are valid January 1 through December 31.  Licenses not renewed by June 1 become delinquent and license fee increases to $30.00.

License Fees:

    •Spayed/Neutered                          $7.50
Senior Citizen Price(65 or older)     $6.75

    •Male/Female                               $15.00
Senior Citizen Price(65 or older)    $13.50

    *Delinquent (after June 1)           $30.00

*Unless new resident (within 30 days), new dog (within 30 days) or dog just turned four  months of age (within 30 days)

City ordinance allows only three dogs per household.  Therefore we will not issue more than three dog licenses to a household.  Residents must apply for a kennel license to keep more than three dogs.  Kennels are only allowed in the "light industrial districts" of our City.

Oakland County is also offering licenses for cats.  Please Note:  Unlike dog licenses, cat licenses are currently not required by City Ordinance.  The fee to license all cats is a one-time charge of $7.50.  A current rabies vaccination certificate must be presented when you apply for the cat license.
