Human Resources

If there are no current openings that I am interested in, may I submit my resume to the Human Resources Department to be kept on file?

It is the Citys policy to only accept applications for job vacancies that are currently posted.

How old do you have to be to work for the City?

Applicants as young as sixteen may be considered for some seasonal jobs.  Please refer to the specific job posting for minimum qualifications.

What are the requirements to become a Paid-On-Call Fire Fighter?

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Have a valid Michigan drivers license with a satisfactory driving record (with no more than 5 points currently on record)
  • Live in the community (Rochester Hills, Rochester, and on occasion into the communities of Auburn Hills, Oakland Township, Shelby Township and Troy)
  • Be able to perform the duties of a fire fighter (subject to agility testing)
  • Have a clear felony conviction record
  • Successfully complete a post-employment offer physical, including drug screen
