Human Resources

Question:  If there are no current openings, may I submit my resume to the Human Resources Department to be kept on file?

Answer:  No.  It is the City’s policy to only accept applications for currently advertised vacancies.  Resumes are not accepted without a completed official City of Rochester Hills Employment Application.

Question:  Does the Human Resources Department have email?

Answer:  Yes, the address is humanresources@rochesterhills.org

Question:  How old do you have to be to work for the City?

Answer:  Must be 18 years of age for most positions.  Lifeguard applicants may be as young as 16 years old.

Question:  What are the requirements to become a Paid-on-Call Firefighter?

Answer:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Reside within the community or ½ mile from the City’s border
  • Successfully proceed through the Selection Process identified on the “Paid-on-Call Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician and Paid-on-Call Emergency Medical Technician” job posting located under Human Resources Job Opening Tab
  • Successful completion of post conditional employment offer physical examination (including drug screen)
  • Applications for Paid-on-Call Firefighter are accepted throughout the year.  The selection process is conducted one or two-times annually

Answer:

  • AFSCME, Local 2491, Rochester Hills  affiliated and chartered by Council 25 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (General Employees)

  • IAFF, Local 3472, International Association of Firefighters (Full-Time Firefighters)
  • MAFF, Michigan Association of Firefighters (Paid-on-Call Firefighters/EMT)
