Department Responsibilities
The primary objective of the Building Department is to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and businesses of Rochester Hills. In this effort the department provides:
   
  • The Construction Board of Appeals      
  • Permits and Inspections: Building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, fire alarm, safety, liquor license and grade    
  • Plan review: Structural and life safety (residential and commercial), grade and ordinance (residential)

With City Hall offices closed to the public, the Building Department now has three ways to submit your Permit applications, drawings and application fees: 

  1. You can drop off all required documents in the Drop Box located in the visitor parking lot in front of City Hall. If drawings or other documents are too large, you may leave them in the front entrance vestibule. 
  2. You can mail all required documents to:
         City of Rochester Hills
         Attn: Building Department
         1000 Rochester Hills Dr.
         Rochester Hills, MI  48309

  3. You may submit all required documents, including fees, online.  Please follow the links below.  If you have any questions, you may contact the Building Department at 248-656-4615.
