Summer Tax Deferment - Income Limit Increased to $40,0000
Summer taxes can be deferred on your principal residence until February 17, 2010, if your 2008 total household income did not exceed $40,000 AND you meet one of the following:
62 years of age or older (by Dec. 1 of prior year), including the unremarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death
Paraplegic or Quadriplegic
Eligible Serviceman, Eligible Veteran or Eligible Widow
Blind Person
Totally and Permanently Disabled
If you are eligible, fill out the Application for Deferment of Summer Taxes. You must complete and return this form to City of Rochester Hills Treasury, 1000 Rochester Hills Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48309. Your application must be filed with the City of Rochester Hills Treasury no later than September 15, 2009.
Those approved for summer tax deferment for 2009, may delay the date their 2009 summer and winter property taxes are due without interest or penalty through March 1, 2010, or until they receive their Homestead Property Tax refund from the State. A copy of property tax credit form MI-1040CR for 2009, filed with the State prior to February 17, 2010, must be presented to the City Treasurer for this additional deferment.
