Property taxes collected in the City of Rochester Hills fund local schools; Oakland Community College; Oakland schools, the City and County, County Parks and Detroit Zoo.  Taxes collected for the City help fund police and fire services; local roads; library services; the Older Persons Commission and Rochester Avon Recreation Authority; and the operation of the City.  The summer tax bill consists of school and county taxes only.
