Amenities
A 5.14-acre park parcel designed for reflection and recognition of the veterans that have served our country. Memorial brick pavers line the pathway and plaza area. It is adjacent to the Clinton River and the Clinton River Trail.
History
The idea for Veterans Memorial Pointe was conceived by a group of Rochester Hills' residents who worked hard to make their conceptual plan a reality. A citizens group raised funds, secured approvals from public agencies, and enlisted an army of volunteers to provide the labor that built VMP on city-owned parkland. The use of private contributions made it possible to create a civic focal point with minimal cost to the city. The completed project earned the "Innovative Park Resources Award" from the Michigan Parks and Recreation Association in 1999. It was also presented with Keep Michigan Beautiful, Inc.'s highest award, their "President's Plaque" in 2006.
Plaza Area
There is a small plaza with a granite monument, flagpoles, benches, and a drinking fountain. The monument is inscribed with:

I AM A PEACEMAKER AND A WARRIOR
I AM A HAWK AND A DOVE
I AM A PATRIOT WHO SERVED THE COUNTRY I LOVE
I AM A MAN, I AM A WOMAN, I TOOK UP THE FIGHT
I STOOD THE WATCH, I DID WHAT WAS RIGHT
I AM A VETERAN
WHEN MY SERVICE IS THROUGH
REMEMBER ME...
I DID IT FOR YOU
David "Doc" Maloney 1997

Gazebo
A lovely handicap-accessible gazebo is nestled in a stand of mature trees. The gazebo cannot be reserved and is open to the general public.

Memorial Paver Bricks Program
The sale of Memorial Bricks continues for Veterans Memorial Pointe. If you purchase a Memorial Brick before the end of April, it will be installed before Memorial Day; or if purchased after April and before October, it will be installed before Veterans Day. Over 2,500 memorial paver bricks have already been sold and installed at the park site. It's a great way to commemorate a special person or event and to honor those who served our country. The price of a paver brick is $55 and allows for 24 characters, including spaces. Additional characters may be added for $1 per character. To order, call the Community Foundation at 248-608-2804 or click here to download a form. You will be sent a confirmation upon receipt of your check and order.
