Borden Park Offerings

 

This 143-acre active sports complex offers the following:

  • 4 lighted ball fields (softball/baseball combo)
  • 5 full-size soccer fields with lighted World Cup field (Field #1)
  • 7 small-size soccer fields (U7-12)
  • 1 multipurpose field (northwest corner)
  • Irrigated fields
  • 4 tennis courts
  • 3 basketball courts
  • 7 Station batting cages (softball and hardball)
  • 2 roller hockey rinks
  • Snack and beverage vending machines 
  • Paved parking (741 cars)
  • Playground
  • Picnic Tables
  • 30 acres of wooded wetlands/nature area
  • Handicap facilities available
  • Home of the annual Festival of the Hills 


Basketball Courts

Three basketball courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

(Open mid-April - mid-October.  Hours vary by month and day.)

The 7-station batting cage offers:

  • 3 slow-pitch softball stations
  • 1 fast-pitch softball station
  • 3 hardball stations

Bats and helmets provided or bring your own.  (No wooden bats allowed.)

The batting cages flyer lists reservation requirements, rates, and hours.  Call Borden Park at 248-656-4797 for more information or to make a reservation.

 

Bicycles


Bicycles are allowed on the paved paths in and around the park.   

 


Bleachers


Bleachers are located by the ball diamonds and the World Cup Soccer Field (#1).


 

Vending Machines


Beverage an snack vending machines are located near the concession building, soccer fields, and ball diamonds.

 

Festival Fireworks


Festival of the Hills


The 2007 annual Festival of the Hills with fireworks display is scheduled for Thursday, June 28.  There is no rain date.

Kites


Kite flying is permitted only on the northwest corner and on Soccer Fields #2-12 when they are not in use or prepped for a game.

 


Nature Area


There are 30 acres of wooded wetlands/natural area.  There are no paths for walking or hiking through the natural area.

 


Parking


There is paved parking available for 741 cars.


 

Pets


Pets are permitted but must be kept on a 6-ft. leash. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet.

 

Picnic Areas


There are a few picnic tables near the lighted soccer field and the playground but no grills available. You may bring in propane grills, but the disposal of charcoal is not allowed.

A play structure is located between the concession area/restrooms and the basketball courts.  


 




 

 


Restrooms


Modern restrooms are available mid-April through October in the Concession/Restroom Building.  A vault toilet is located near the soccer fields.  Portable toilets are added during peak season near the ball diamonds and the tennis courts/roller hockey area.

Two, full-size roller hockey rinks are located next to the tennis courts.  Sometimes The rinks are reserved by RARA for classes and league play.  When not reserved, the rinks are open to the public at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis.  Helmets and safety gear are strongly recommended.  No ice hockey pucks allowed.

Shelter


There is a small shelter near soccer field #5 that cannot be reserved.

 

Sports Fields


Ball diamonds and soccer fields may be reserved for a rental fee.  All reservations are governed by the Sports Facilities Use Policy (Administrative Policy #405-1999) and Insurance Requirements must be met.  Click on Insurance Certificate for a sample insurance form.  Sports Field Rental Fees are based on residency / non-residency status, age, field size, field use (game or practice), and requested setups.  Special rates are available for tournaments.  Resident teams qualify for the resident rate based on Team Rosters and Resident Discount criteria.   Go to Sports Field Reservations  for field availability calendars, existing field reservations, soccer and ball diamond reservation procedures, and team rosters, or call (248) 656.4797 for further information.

Ball Diamonds


All four ball diamonds are irrigated and lighted (softball/baseball combo).  Ball diamonds may be used on a first-come, first-served basis if they are not reserved by others and if they are not set up for a game that will take place later that day. 

 

 

 Soccer Players

 
Soccer Fields


All 5 full-size soccer fields and all smaller fields are irrigated.  The World Cup field (Field #1) has lights, bleachers, and a scoreboard.  Soccer fields can only be used with a reservation.  Go to Sports Field Reservations for further information.

Four tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis when RARA has not reserved  them for classes.  The courts have no lights.

Rules and Regulations

  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited within the park.

  • Pets must be on a 6' leash and under immediate control.
  • Speed limit within the park is 15 miles per hour.
  • Golf, model rockets, and airplanes are prohibited.
  • Children under the age of twelve (12) should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Persons must abide by posted rules.
  • No snowmobiles or overnight parking are allowed in the park.
  • Ground fires are prohibited.
  • Grills are allowed but discarding coal is not allowed.
  • Destruction of property, natural surroundings, or wildlife within the park is strictly forbidden.
  • Disorderly conduct tending to create a breach of the peace, or disturb or annoy others within the park is prohibited.
  • It is prohibited to bring in, have, or use any firearm or any other weapon within the park.
