FALL/WINTER SCHEDULE

In 2011, beginning November 14 through March 14, Spencer Park and Bloomer Park will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Closing these parks three days each week will result in the decrease of some operational costs and will help the city reach some of its cost-saving goals.  We encourage all visitors to use the parks when they are open and continue to participate in the many available fall and winter activities. Please visit the Calendar of Events for more information.

COYOTES AND YOU: WHAT YOU CAN DO

The Eastern Coyote can be found throughout the state of Michigan including the Metro-Detroit area. To help our residents understand the behavior and science of coyotes, we invited a noted coyote behavioralist, a biologist from DNRE and a Conservation Officer from the DNRE to provide information. This presentation was recorded at City Hall on April 28th, 2010.  Click here to watch the video.

2011-2015 Parks & Recreation Master Plan

The Parks, Planning and MIS Departments, through many hours of review, discussion and outreach assembled the 2011-2015 Parks & Recreation Master Plan.  This 5-year planning process is required by the State of Michigan for the city to remain eligible for various recreation-related grants and helps prioritize the parks system.  The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the draft master plan on March 1, 2011 and recommended its adoption by City Council.  The plan was adopted by City Council on March 21, 2011 and approved by the Department of Natural Resources on April 1, 2011.

A copy of the adopted plan is available for review at the Parks & Forestry Department at City Hall or you may download the plan by clicking the link below.
