GIS
A GIS (Geographic Information System) is a computer software tool used to display multiple layers of information about a geographic location. Lines, points and areas are used to display layers. Lines can represent features such as roads, points can represent features such as fire hydrants, and areas can represent features such as parcels. GIS technology provides an efficient means for us to organize information about our city and allows us a method to visually display that information for internal staff use and to benefit our residents and businesses. For available GIS maps, go to the reference desk section of the website or click here to go there now.
