Fire Division
The Fire Division is responsible for any and all fire related incidents in Rochester Hills. This includes calls such as downed power line, CO alarms, burning complaints, car fires, building fires, etc. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure our residents and personnel are well protected. The same personnel who provide our EMS services staff this division.
Our city has Mutual Aid agreements with all surrounding departments to assist us when more manpower or equipment is required. All administrative staff maintains various certifications to operate in an emergency, which provides us with additional personnel when needed. Many of our personnel are also trained to provide emergency response in confined space, trench collapse, building collapse, and hazardous materials incidents. The members are part of a Special Response unit consisting of 17 departments across Oakland County. This allows our community to save on expensive equipment costs by sharing these costs with other departments.
The Fire Department is also responsible for our residents in the event of a disaster such as a tornado. The Fire Department, specifically the Fire Chief in such an event, would be the acting Emergency Manager in such a disaster. Many of our staff including the Mayor and Directors, along with other city departments such as the Building Department and Department of Public Services have received specialized training to respond to various disasters.
