Communications Division
The City of Rochester Hills Fire Department began operating a communication center for the City in the mid 1970s. The center provided dispatching services for Fire and EMS emergencies and after hour calls for other City Departments.
In 2009 the Rochester Hills City Council requested that staff seek a request for proposal to contract the communication operations to another agency. Early in 2010 the proposals were received and City Council voted to move the operations to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. This change went into effect on July 14, 2010.
The residents and businesses of Rochester Hills should experience no difference in emergency services provided by Rochester Hills Fire and EMS personnel. Calls within the City will now be dispatched from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in Waterford.
If a resident has any concern with regard to 911 calls, Fire and/or EMS services, please contact the Fire Department at 248-656-4720.
