The facilities Fund is used as an internal service fund for the centralization of maintenance, repair, cleaning and utility costs for all city-owned buildings and grounds.  This centralization helps to measure and recover the costs for these services provided to other user departments.

Goals:

  • Insure the investment the residents have made in city-owned facilities.
  • Provide single-source accountability for capital asset management.
  • Operate city facilities through cost-effective, value-based strategies.
  • Foster safety for employees and visitors to city-owned facilities.
  • Plan and implement facility maintenance and repair programs through the utilization of industry standards/practices and periodic facility assessment studies.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate Facilities' processes for improved service and cost control.
  • Secure office equipment and furnishings through a comprehensive program to maximize benefits for the City and its residents.

Objectives:

  • Increase use of Metasys to broadcast equipment alarm signals to pertinent Facilities staff.
  • Expand the use of the Metasys system at the Sheriff's Sub-station to improve energy management.
  • Continue training City Hall custodial staff for the preventative maintenance of the HVAC and related equipment at City Hall, Sheriff's Sub-station or other City facilities.
  • Effective administration of contracts between the city and outsourced service companies to take advantage of reducing the benefit to City facilities.
  • Improve the tracking and reporting capabilities of the JD Edwards Work Order system comparing actual to budget expenses.
