The City Clerk, appointed by the seven-member City Council, serves as the official record keeper of the City of Rochester Hills and reports to the Mayor on a daily basis. The responsibilities of the City Clerk are defined by the City Charter, as well as State and Federal law and include the following:
- Clerk of the City Council which includes keeping a permanent journal of its proceedings including posting of meetings, setting of agendas, preparation and follow up for agenda packets, mailing of notices, minutes review and related activities.
- Administering all oaths required by law.
- Custodian of all papers, documents and records pertaining to the city including ordinances, resolutions and actions of City Council.
- Overseeing the Accounting Division that is responsible for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, water and sewer billing.
- Publishing and posting notices of the City as required by law.
- Conducting Federal, State and Local Elections, maintaining voter registration records.
- Overseeing City cemeteries: Van Hoosen Jones-Stoney Creek Cemetery (Tienken & Sheldon Roads); Historical Cemeteries: Olde Stoney Creek & Brewster.
- Preparation of requests for Class C liquor licenses.
- Passport Agent.
- Recorder of all births and deaths occurring within the City including Crittenton Hospital.
- Responsible for Solicitors, Mechanical Amusement Device & No Trespassing Licensing.
- Handling mail and postage for City offices.
Election Day for 2008 are as follows:

- November 4, 2008 - State General Election
