Storage of Recreational Vehicles
Rochester Hills Zoning Ordinance restricts parking and/or storing of recreational vehicles on premises not approved for such storage.
Snowmobiles, camper enclosures, utility trailers, boats and similar recreational vehicles cannot be stored in the front yard of your home. The vehicle must be owned by the resident and stored in the rear yard, at least 5 feet from the rear and side property lines. If the vehicle is to be parked in the side yard it must be at least the minimum distance of that required for the side yard setback of the zoning district in which it is located.
Notwithstanding the city's restrictions regarding the parking or storage of recreational vehicles, residential subdivisions may have deed restrictions that place further rules governing this activity. However, the City of Rochester Hills do not enforce deed restrictions, and these issues need to be addressed through the respective homeowner's associations.
