Duties and Responsibilities
The Ordinance Compliance Division is responsible for monitoring existing buildings and properties for compliance to City Ordinances. Ordinance Inspectors continually patrol the city in search of ordinance violations for blight, debris, junk cars, commercial vehicles, recreation vehicles, parking, weeds, illegal signs and other issues. Ordinance Inspectors also review site plans, perform site inspections on new and existing buildings, review all sign permit applications, assist other departments with interpretation of city ordinances and the issuance of violation notices, perform inspections of waste hauling trucks, assist with special projects, and respond to residents complaints. Ordinance Technicians review residential construction and land divisions for compliance to city zoning codes, issue all addresses and coordinate with the fire department, U.S. Postal Service and all utility companies, and process all complaints, code compliance requests, civil infractions and citations. The ordinance Compliance Division is also responsible for performing all residential grade reviews, inspections and complaint investigations.
