Technology Accelerator
The Automation Alley Technology Center's technology business accelerator is a key focal point of the SmartZone's new business ecology, providing a pivotal link for the SmartZone network and assisting businesses, educators, government and entrepreneurs in bringing new technologies to the marketplace more quickly and efficiently.
The Technology Center's accelerator turns technology ideas into solutions:
- Provides support and resources to turn ideas into usable, marketable technology solutions
- Helps formulate strategies and business plans
- Offers development assistance
- Supports the educational needs of technology businesses
- Provides access to capital to fund new ventures
The Business Accelerator is a program that guides successful applicants through the process of establishing a technology-based business and placing it on the road to success. The Accelerator's process model is:
- The idea/innovation is born
- Business or entrepreneur applies for commercialization
- Accelerator review panels screen/assess the idea/innovation
- Selection/Admission to accelerator
- A customized Acceleration Plan is developed
- Acceleration Plan implemented
- Attend programs, seminars, workshops
- Receive mentoring
- Work with commercialization coaches
- Seed capital investment if required
- Commercial viability is validated
- Presentation to venture capitalists or private investors
- Continue Business counseling!
The Accelerator takes advantage of its network of industry experts, providing valuable real world experience. It provides access to funding sources and direct contacts with investors. The Accelerator also has partnered with the National Automotive Center and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
