Oakland University
Oakland University, a public university, is a vital R&D partner to many companies operating within diverse industries and one of the nation's 110 research-intensive, doctoral-granting universities.
Oakland University (OU) has fostered many entrepreneur ventures in recent years. Oxford Biomedical Research, Inc. and Self Guided Systems (SGS) are two recent success stories that incubated at OU and located in Rochester Hills. Oxford Biomedical is is a leader in diagnostic genomics and metabalomics research. SGS has developed the first unmanned lawn mower, a technology going into production this year.
Oakland University's commitment to the SmartZone program includes access to laboratory space and cooperative public/private ventures. Oakland University also is a partner in the SmartCel Accelerator at Michigan Technological University.
