The Rochester Hills "advantage" is its combination of community assets. From quiet neighborhoods to its 950 acres of parklands, Rochester Hills combines the elements of modern suburbs and rural pastures.
Built around the traditional downtown of Rochester, the community also supports new urbanism in the Village of Rochester Hills, a modern walkable shopping destination that opened in 2002. These centers, along with nearby Meadowbrook Hall, the Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Music Theatre, offer cultural venues rarely available in a suburban community.
With parks that feature fishing, hiking, biking, walking trails along the scenic Paintcreek and Clinton River Trails, modern althletic programs and facilities and the recently opened Older Persons' Center, Rochester Hills provides incredible recreational opportunities for people of all ages.
Rochester Hills' residents have prided themselves on preserving their history. The community has 32 designated historic districts, including the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, which is open for tours year round.
The community offers housing stock that includes a variety of home styles on large and small lots. Multi-family homes also are plentiful, mainly located along Rochester Road, the community's primary commercial corridor.
Education is an important community asset. Rochester Hills offers two award-winning public school districts, Rochester Community Schools and Avondale School District, and ten private schools. In addition, the main campuses of Oakland University and Rochester College are located in Rochester Hills, providing undergraduate and graduate level degrees, as well as continuing education for adults.
With these many assets, Rochester Hills is poised to maintain a quality of life that supports the needs of the community, both young and old, for generations to come.
