The City of Rochester Hills is one of metro Detroit's leading communities in offering quality infrastructure, including its proximity to major roadways, including I-75 and M-59, and access to diverse and advanced fiber optics networks. The City's infrastructure is in good position to adequately supply the needs of the residential and business communities into the future.

Rochester Hills is 30 minutes from downtown Detroit, 45 minutes to Detroit Metro Airport, and within one hour of most other locations in southeast Michigan, including Ann Arbor, Auburn Hills, and Mt. Clemens. The headquarters of DaimlerChrysler, Ford and General Motors all are located within 20 minutes of Rochester Hills.

Rochester Hill's roadways total 334.2 miles, including 215 miles of local and 38.5 miles of major roads. Oakland County owns and maintains 53.5 miles, and the State of Michigan 27 miles of roadway within the City.

Major highways include: I-75 and M-59.

Public Utilities

Rochester Hills is supported by 381.53 miles of water main and 305.2 miles of sanitary sewer lines. New sanitary sewer lines are being installed in many areas, allowing more properties to connect to the sanitary sewer system. For information or questions on permit fees to connect to the new system, contact Public Works, at (248) 656-4685.

For water billing, new water or sewer service, water service shut-off, or troubleshooting problems, call (248) 796-4850. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
